The project is designed to establish a robust communication link between the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) Marine ships and the Regional Headquarters using the advanced capabilities of Bangabandhu Satellite-1. This initiative aims to overcome the limitations of the current communication system, which relies on VHF (Very High Frequency) technology and offers limited coverage. By leveraging the satellite's extensive coverage area, the BCG Patrol teams will gain the ability to maintain seamless and reliable communication with the Regional Headquarters, regardless of their location.
Once implemented, this project will significantly enhance operational efficiency and situational awareness for the BCG. The patrol teams will no longer be constrained by the geographical limits of the existing VHF network. Whether operating in remote regions of Bangladesh's coastal areas, out at sea, or beyond current communication zones, the teams will be able to transmit and receive vital information in real time.
This capability is expected to strengthen the BCG's overall maritime security operations, enabling quicker response times, better coordination, and improved decision-making. The integration of satellite technology will ensure that the BCG remains connected at all times, supporting their mission to safeguard Bangladesh's coastal territories and maritime interests.
